About Brandhorst Photo & Design
My name is Curt Brandhorst, and this is my website. It's not the fanciest site around, but I do hope you'll find it usable and appealing. While I am willing, and do design websites for others, I believe in keeping things low key. People coming to a website, are coming for the goods or services the site promotes, not the bells and whistles the site itself has on it. All too often in this day and age, websites seem to get in the way of their purpose. I try to avoid that.
The purpose of this site is to present you with my art & photography. I have been producing commercially in both areas for a little over 30 years now. I was enrolling in extracurricular fine art training from the time I was in grade school. In high school, I was tutored in portraiture; in college, I studied watercolor. To this day, my favorite mediums are colored pencil and watercolor, and my themes often revolve around portraiture and the natural world.
In the 1980's after an eye opening visit to Yosemite, I took up photography as a means to supply reference materials for my paintings. Shortly there after, my photographs began earning awards and fans on their own. For the next 20 years, life and travels intervened in my life forcing me to more or less set my art equipment aside. Yet my trusty SLR followed me from the banks of the Mississippi to Australia, and New Zealand. In recent years my focus has primarily aimed at the Pacific Coast of the U.S. from Big Sur to the Olympic Penninsula.
Please, take some time, enjoy yourself. Look around. Feel free to comment on what you see. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
